I live in Tauranga with my husband and young son. I grew up in Tauranga, and moved to Wellington to study psychology. After studying and working in Wellington for 15 years, I felt drawn back to the Bay of Plenty to enjoy the lifestyle we have here with lots of opportunity to get outdoors. My personal time is spent with my family, looking after our lifestyle property, navigating the needs of a toddler, walking our energetic dog, and unwinding with pilates, yoga, and time in nature.
Professionally, I have a PhD in Psychology, and a PostGraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology. I’m registered as a Clinical Psychologist in New Zealand, and a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists. I first began private practice in 2019, and have worked with people on a broad range of challenges since then. In my practice I have developed a special interest in working with women on issues unique to women’s experiences, mostly commonly in the perinatal and postnatal (pre and post birth) and perimenopausal phases of life. My own difficult journey to becoming a mum contributed to my passion for supporting women in these phases of life.
I’ve also spent several years working in workplace wellbeing – facilitating wellbeing training, offering EAP counselling and leadership coaching, and assisting leaders to support mental health in their teams. Earlier in my career as a psychologist I worked in DHB mental health and addiction services, and in the Department of Corrections.
I use a range of psychological therapies to get the best fit for each of my clients. My approach is informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy and Positive Psychology.
I bring authenticity and a sense of humour to my work as a psychologist. Therapy can be hard work, and I know that coming to talk to a stranger about things you’re struggling with can be both hard to do, and feel a bit weird! I always aim to create a space where you can feel as safe and comfortable as possible, and where we work collaboratively together.
